The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Walkthrough – Prologue

When we meet up with our buddy Link, he’s just trying to make a living busting his hump as a ranch hand in the Ordon Village. Link spends his free time playing with the children of the village and the youngsters really look up to him. Link also trains in the way of the sword with the crafty Rusl. Link is going about his business one day when the children of the village take off into the woods after a monkey that has been harassing them. Link chases the children into the woods but it is there he realizes he’s been set up as the woods are littered with night monsters. After doing battle with the critters of the woods, Link rescues a child and the monkey from where they were being held. Link did not have this in mind when he woke up in the morning as he had always thought the woods were a safe place.
Each of the villages in the area pays tribute to Hyrule Castle in some form. Link’s friend Rusl has prodded him to be the guy that delivers this year sentiment. Link is pretty pumped as he has never been to the castle before. Link is talking to his horse Epona about how much fun they’re going to have until Betty Buzzkill aka Link’s friend Ilea ruins the party. Ileum notice a wound on Epona’s foot and gives Link the riot act about how careless he is. She takes the horse and leaves in a whirlwind.

Link tracks down his friend and his horse at the spring nearby and pretty much begs for forgiveness. Ilea is having none of it as she is set in her ways about keeping the horse. Link and Ilea go back and forth but she is like many women, very headstrong. Finally a little guy from town named Colin steps in and gets Ilea to at least talk to Link.  Ilea gives in and lets Link make the journey to the castle. She states she was only looking out for the best interest of her friend. It is a long trip and she worries about Link’s reckless lifestyle. As Link is getting ready to leave, she tells him to be safe and not be a crazy man.
With Ilea’s blessing and his horse ready to roll, Link sets off on the journey he intended. As he is getting ready to head out, a monster riding an enormous boar comes rumbling out of the forest. Link was all set for his journey so he is caught completely off guard and knocked unconscious by a ferocious blow. All the children of the village are attacked and Link can barely muster to lift his head. As he peers out of his hazy eye, he notices Ilea and Colin being taken hostage by the monster. Link is helpless as he was supposed to be a hero to his friends.
